Benchmark indices closed moderately lower on Tuesday, weighed by profit booking ahead of last phase of voting for assembly elections. Nifty closed at 8946 levels, down by 17 points. Sensex closed at 28986 levels, down by 61 points.There were 667 advances, 959 declines and 297 unchanged stocks on NSE, reflecting bearish undertone floating in the market. The Rupee Closed higher by 5 paise at 66.67 per Dollar.
The BSE Mid-cap Index closed up 19 points at 13,503, BSE Small-cap Index jumped up 4 points at 13,675 and Bank Nifty declined 36 points to 20627. In Commodity market, Gold slipped 26 points to 28,919 and Silver dropped 45 points to 42,384.
In European market, FTSE gained 3 points at 7352, DAX hiked 9.35 points at 11967 while CAC lost 13 points to 4959.
