The market continues to trade on a gung-ho note, on thje back of strong gain in banking, oil &gas,power,capital goods and auto shares.
At The BSE sensex is trading at 28,197 up 220 point ,while NSE Nifty is tradin g at 8662 up 71 point.
The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.80% at 12,520 Whereas BSE small-cap index is trading up 0.85% at 12,253
ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Power Grid, SBI and NTPC are among the gainers, whereas Dr.Reddy's, Bajaj Auto, Lupin, Cipla and Sun Pharmaceuticals are losing sheen on BSE.
Some buying activity is seen in banking, power, utilities, industrial, finance and oil & gas sectors, while pharma is showing weakness on BSE.
TheINDIA VIX is down 0.65% at 15.5175. Out of 1,831 stocks traded on theNSE, 343 declined, 1,143 advanced and 345 remained unchangedtoday.
A total of 52 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while five stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
Dr Reddys Laboratories dropped 9.5% to Rs.3005 on BSE. The company has posted a net profit after taxes and share of profit of associates of Rs.1535 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2016 as compared to Rs.6474 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2015. Total Income has decreased from Rs.38279 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2015 to Rs.32895 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2016.
Asian markets are trading mixed. Hong Kong's Hang Seng and Nikkei 225 are trading higher. Shanghai Composite is trading in red. The focus will remains on the Federal Reserve, with concludes its two-day policy meeting later in the day.
US equity markets closed mixed note. The Dow Jones industrial average dipped 0.1% to 18,473.75 and the S&P 500 edged up 0.03% to 2,169.18. The Nasdaq Composite added 0.24% to 5,110.05.
The government seems to be in a better position now regarding the unified tax regime in the country as the empowered panel of state finance ministers managed a broad consensus on key issues regarding GST with the Finance Minister. The Congress will be upset that GST rate would be kept out of the Constitution. But others aren’t complaining much except on an issue of compensation to states. Companies announcing their numbers today include Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto, Bharti Airtel, HDFC, YES Bank.
Raghuram Rajan on Tuesday staunchly defended his record in curbing inflation and cleaning up bad debt at banks, and he called on the government to protect the central bank's independence.
