The share market ended 2016 on a positive note as the Nifty and the Sensex gained 1 percent higher. Annually, the Nifty metal saw an up tick of 45 percent. End of the day, the stock market struggled a lot but could not touch 8200. The Nifty ended up 82 points or 1 percent at 8185 while the Sensex closed up 260 points or 0.9 percent at 26626.
Out of 1112 shares have advanced, 405 shares declined and 67 shares are unchanged. The Indian Rupee closed higher by 17 paise at 67.93 per Dollar.
The BSE Mid-cap and Small-cap indices gained over 1% each. In Commodity market, Gold hiked 12 point at 27,574 and Silver jumped up 147 points at 39,768.
Asian Market Update: Asian markets closed mostly in green on Friday, the last trading day of 2016. The Shanghai Composite index jumped up 0.24% and Hong Kong’s index Hang Seng closed higher by 1%. Nikkei 225 ended lower by 0.16%.
