Equity benchmarks ended the session on a stellar note, with indices closing at fresh all-time high marks. The rally was boosted on the back of better than forecast monsoon rains. The Nifty ended above 9400-mark.The Sensex closed up 314.92 points at 30248.17, while the Nifty ended higher by 90.45 points at 9407.30. The market breadth was narrow as 1,619 shares advanced against a decline of 1,226 shares, while 180 shares were unchanged.
The BSE Mid-cap index closed higher by 0.87% at 14,853. BSE Small-cap index closed higher by 0.75% at 15,561. India VIX closed lower by 0.6% at 11.04 levels. Among commodities, gold prices shot up by Rs 95 to Rs 28,665 per 10 grams at the bullion market on firm overseas cues and scattered buying by jewellers at the domestic spot market. Silver also staged a recovery, climbing Rs 205 to Rs 38,405 per kg on emergence of buying by industrial units and coin makers.

European markets were under pressure as investors digested the latest
batch of corporate earnings and searched for clues as to whether major
bourses could surpass recent highs.DAX declined 10 points at 12738, CAC dropped 5 points to 5392 whereas FTSE closed up 29 points at 7371.
