The BSE Sensex gain 575 points or 2.28% at 25,881 and NSE Nifty 50-share gain 186 points or 2.40% at closed at 7,934.90.
About 1563 shares advanced,970 shares declined 182 shares are unchanged.
The broader market traded in line with benchmark indices with BSE Midcap index and Smallcap indices gaining 0.72 and 0.64% respectively.
In Asia China Shanghai Composite ended 0.23% lower while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng advanced by 2.71%.
Japan’s Nikkei followed Hong Kong market to end 1.57% higher.
Shares of Tech Mahindra rose 10.29% after posting a 90% surge in consolidated March quarter profit.
Also today shares of Amara Raja Batteries slumped 5 percent.
