Equity benchmarks rallied sharply on first day of the week as the Sensex closed up 290.54 points or 0.99 percent at 29655, supported by HDFC Bank, HDFC, Reliance Industries and L&T. The Nifty closed above psychological 9,200-mark for the first time since April 12, up 98.55 points or 1.08 percent at 9,217. Over all 933 share have advanced, 628 share have declined and 73 share are unchanged on BSE. The Indian Rupee closed higher by 17 paise at 64.44 per Dollar.
All BSE sector are closed with positive leads. The BSE Small Cap gained 124 points at 15291, BSE Mid-Cap hiked 138 points at 14625 and Bank Nifty jumped up 305 points at 21857.
European markets were strong, with the France's CAC rallying 4.5 percent after the centrist Emmanuel Macron won the first round of the French election. Germany's DAX was up 3 percent and Britain's FTSE gained 1.8 percent, at the time of writing this article.
